Hi! What can we help you with?

If all your books were in stock:

In-stock orders ship out within 1-2 business days. Free standard shipping then takes around 2-8 business days. If your order included a pre-order book (the most common reason for orders seeming late), read below to find out how to look up your book's estimated shipping date.

Tip: To see whether or not your order has shipped or to find its tracking number, you can look up your order's status here with your email address and order number.

If you pre-ordered a book:

Pre-orders ship as soon as our stock arrives. Sometimes books are still being printed; sometimes, we're just waiting for stock to get here from our warehouse. Pre-orders can take anywhere from a few days to a few months, depending on the book. We list each book's estimated shipping date on its product page, right above the "Pre-Order" button.

Tip: To find the estimated shipping date for any pre-order, you can use our Pre-Order Look-Up Tool

If you ordered a mix of in-stock and pre-order books:

When orders are mixed, we give customers an option during checkout to pick between 1) waiting and shipping everything together, or 2) paying a little extra to ship the available books immediately. If you opted to wait and ship everything together, your shipment will go out when the last of your pre-order books is in stock. If you paid extra to ship the in-stock books now, those will go out in 1-2 business days like usual. The remaining books will ship when the last of the pre-orders arrives in stock.

As long as your order hasn't shipped yet, absolutely! Just email us at help@bushelandpeckbooks.com and we'll take care of it right away.

As frequent online shoppers ourselves, we know what a hassle it is to mail products back. To keep things simple for everyone, we try to avoid returns. Here's what do instead!

For books that didn't meet your expectations:

We hope you fall in love with our books. But if for any reason you don't, we'll issue you a full refund—no questions asked. Just let us know the problem, and boom, done! Do you have to mail the book back? No need! All we ask is that you donate the unwanted book to someone in need.

For books that arrived damaged:

It's a tough journey through the postal service! If your book arrives damaged, let us know at help@bushelandpeckbooks.com. We'll send you a replacement right away. And again, no need to mail anything back. If the original book is in decent condition, we ask that you consider donating it, but totally up to you!

Tip: To submit a manuscript or portfolio, use our Submissions portal. Good luck!

A stellar submission usually comes down to a few things: book, market, and platform.

Book

At Bushel & Peck, you'll find that we gravitate towards certain kinds of books over others. In general, the following types of kid's books and/or themes will definitely pique our interest!

  • Biography
  • Science
  • Nature
  • History
  • Art
  • Music
  • Clever takes on classic literature
  • Pop culture
  • Diversity and representation
  • Goodnight and "I love you" stories
  • Anything unique that hasn't been seen before!

Market

This is where you'll need to channel your inner researcher and dig into the competitive landscape. What else is out there? Where does your book fit? What unique perspective does it offer to the ongoing conversation?

Platform

Though not as important to us as the first two—good books with good markets can succeed regardless—a strong platform can certainly help! Do you tour? Speak? Have a bazillion followers on Instagram? Play tennis with Barack Obama? Just kidding. Sort of. The more reach you already have, the easier it is to spread the word about a new book. But if you're a new author and this daunts you, have no fear! In our experience, good books have a way of succeeding with or without an author's megaphone. We'd still love to see your submission!

We do! In fact, some of our absolute best books have come without representation from an agent. (That said, agents are welcome, too, of course!)

If you submitted more than three months ago and you haven't heard back yet, you're welcome to email us for an update at davidandstephanie@bushelandpeckbooks.com. Don't worry, you won't bug us!

For retailers:

We're delighted to offer wholesale pricing through our distributor, Baker & Taylor Publisher Services. Each region of the country is covered by a sales representative who represents our books. Get in touch, and he or she will be able to help you set up an account, terms, and place your first order! Alternatively, if you already have an account with Ingram, all our books are available there, too.

Tip: To find the sales rep for your area, see the Sales Representatives page at Baker & Taylor Publisher Services. Each rep has their email listed, so they're easy to contact!

For libraries and educators:

All our books are readily available through the usual educational suppliers like Ingram and Follett. If you have trouble finding the book you're looking for, let us know and we'll help you find a way to purchase!

We sure do! Our books have been published in multiple languages by publishers all over the world. Email us at davidandstephanie@bushelandpeckbooks.com, and we'll connect you with our rights agent who works with your region.

If you know of an organization that can help put free books into the hands of kids who need them most, we'd love to hear about them.
